This is a five-year-old Islay single malt from Ardnahoe, bottled at a cask strength of 61% ABV. Ardnahoe was built by the Laing family, who also run Scarabus and Old Malt Cask.
The nose is maritime and salty, with peat smoke recalling a barbecue, toasted marshmallows and rich cocoa. On the palate it is robust and oily, with creamy vanilla, caramel and tropical fruit alongside dry, ashy peat smoke. The finish carries lingering sweetness, ashy smoke and a note of oak.
