This is an eight-year-old Kentucky straight bourbon from Augusta Distillery, drawn from a single barrel and named after Old Route 8. It is bottled at cask strength without chill filtration, and each bottle comes from a hand-selected American oak barrel, so the character varies a little from one to the next.
The notes describe a deep amber spirit. The nose brings graham cracker, vanilla and salted caramel with hints of cedar and oak. Brown sugar, toasted oak and vanilla follow on the palate, with a touch of spice, and the long, warm finish carries baking spice and oak.
