Balvenie – Peat Week 14 Year Old (70cl, 48.3%)

A 14 year old single malt from Balvenie, bottled at 48.3% in a 70cl bottle. It was distilled in 2003 during Peat Week, the one week each year when the distillery works with 100% peated barley, a practice begun in 2002. The whisky carries a generous helping of rich smoke. The nose offers toasted oak with heather, stroopwafel and coffee, flamed orange peel and dry cedar. On the palate come butterscotch, roasted apricot and a light floral malt note, turning spicier as it develops. The finish is earthy peat with runny honey.
