Bear-Bon is a Canadian whisky from Bearface Spirits in British Columbia, built on a grain whisky distilled mainly from corn with some malted barley.
It is matured first in ex-bourbon American oak barrels, then goes through Bearface's elemental ageing, where barrels sit through seasonal temperature swings. The finish is in heavily charred virgin oak. It is bottled at 40% ABV (80 proof).
The nose is sweet and woody, with vanilla bean, charred oak, brown sugar, toasted corn and butterscotch. The palate has caramel, maple cream and sweet corn, then charred oak, coconut and dark chocolate. The finish is long and warm, with toasted oak, vanilla and molasses.
