Blue Spot is a pot still Irish whiskey matured for at least seven years in Bourbon barrels, Sherry butts and Portuguese Madeira casks. It is non-chill-filtered and bottled at cask strength.
The name comes from Mitchell's practice of marking maturing casks with a daub of coloured paint to judge how far the whiskey had aged. This bottling reunites the historical Spot family for the first time in over 100 years.
In the glass it shows dried figs, dates, apricots and raisins, with roasted cashews and salted caramel. Chocolate and espresso build through the mid-palate into a finish with a warming heat.
