Bower Hill Barrel Strength is a Kentucky straight bourbon from Louisville, produced in very small batches and bottled without chill filtration or dilution at 59.4% (118.8 proof). The brand takes its name from the Battle of Bower Hill in 1794, an early episode of the Whiskey Rebellion.
It is made from a high-rye mash bill and aged for at least four years in new charred American oak barrels with a number three char.
The nose is sweet, with crème brûlée, toasted pecans, sweet corn, vanilla and charred oak. The palate is bold and full-bodied, with vanilla, toasted nuts, caramel, spicy oak and a little dried fruit. The finish is very long and spicy, with caramel and a touch of sweet popcorn.
