A 22 year old Islay single malt from Bowmore, released as the Masters' Selection in its collaboration with Aston Martin. Master blender Ron Welsh and Aston Martin chief creative officer Marek Reichman worked on it together, drawing on the heritage and innovation the two brands share.
It is a vatting of whisky from American oak ex-bourbon hogsheads, distilled in 1997, and European oak sherry butts, distilled in 2000, finished in Tawny Port casks. It is bottled at 51%.
The nose offers heather honey, vanilla, cherries and lychees, with a floral note and a hint of eucalyptus. The palate is malty and spiced, with vanilla fudge, golden syrup, butterscotch and dry oak. The finish is sweet and woody, with liquorice and a touch of peat smoke.
