Bruichladdich 30 Year Old is an unpeated single malt Scotch whisky from the Rhinns of Islay, in a 70cl bottle at 43%. It was released in early 2024 in the distillery's Luxury Redefined series, as a tribute to the revival of the Victorian-era distillery, which was mothballed in 1994 and restored in 2001.
It is made from unpeated barley distilled before the 2001 reopening and matured in ex-bourbon casks. Half spent its whole term in refill hogsheads. The other half was moved from refill hogsheads into fresh bourbon barrels after twenty years.
The nose has coconut, gorse flowers, Brazil nuts and vanilla, with geranium, rose and candied lemon. The palate is sweet and soft, with toasted oak, honey, fudge and a salty tang. The finish is very long, with sea salt, oak and toasted coconut.
