This is an Islay single malt from Bruichladdich, made from Bere barley, one of Scotland's oldest grains. The barley was grown on Orkney and distilled in 2013. Bere is an ancient, low-yielding grain.
The nose opens with citrus, sweet malt flour, tropical fruit and soft fudge, then peach skin, vanilla pod, candied orange and rose. On the palate, malted grain leads with popcorn, porridge and brown sugar, alongside apricot, melon, marzipan, soft oak and coconut. The finish brings milk chocolate, creme brulee, mango and orange blossom honey.
