Bruichladdich Black Art Edition 10.1 is a 29 year old unpeated single malt bottled at 45.1% in a 70cl bottle. It is the tenth release in the Black Art series, made entirely from casks of pre-renaissance Bruichladdich spirit that had lain on the island for almost three decades.
Head distiller Adam Hannett keeps the make-up of the whisky and the casks used to himself. It was matured in fine oak.
The colour is mahogany. The nose is warming and fruity, with toasted oak, pralines, leather, sweet apricot jam, ripe melon and cherries. The palate brings orange, gingerbread, lemon cake, chocolate, vanilla and dried fruit, with coconut, ginger and cinnamon. The finish is long, with caramel, berries, ginger and a light touch of tobacco.
