This is an Islay single malt from Bruichladdich, part of the Micro Provenance series, which looks at the effect of individual casks on maturing spirit. It was distilled in 2012 and matured for 11 years in a first-fill virgin oak cask.
The whisky comes from that one cask, cask no. 0917, and 270 bottles were produced.
The nose is toasted vanilla, warm oak spice and baked apple. On the palate come sweet cereal, malt and honey with a little caramel, alongside tannins, nutmeg and toasted wood. The finish is long and oaky, balanced by gentle sweetness.
