Bruichladdich – Octomore 10.3 (70cl, 61.3%)

Octomore 10.3 is a single malt Scotch whisky from Bruichladdich, bottled at 61.3% in a 70cl bottle. The barley was grown in a single field, in a single year, at Octomore farm, less than a mile from the distillery. The whisky was matured entirely on Islay and bottled there. It was aged for six years in ex-bourbon casks and has a phenol count of 114ppm. The nose offers earthy peat smoke, lemon drops, thyme, sea salt, vanilla and fudge, with a sharp, medicinal edge. On the palate come salt, honey and lemon, then pear, gooseberry and oak over heavy peat smoke.
