Octomore 14.2 is a heavily peated Islay single malt from Bruichladdich, made from Scottish Concerto barley with a phenol level of 128.9 ppm. It was distilled in 2017 and bottled in 2023 at 57.7% ABV, in a 70cl bottle.
Head Distiller Adam Hannett chose casks that had held Oloroso and Amarone. The spirit spent four years in Oloroso (40%), first-fill Amarone (16%) and second-fill Amarone (44%) casks, then one year in Pauillac wine casks.
The Oloroso casks add a robust, savoury flavour to the peat smoke, while the Amarone oak brings rich red fruit notes.
