Bruichladdich – Octomore 15.1 (70cl, 59.1%)

Octomore 15.1 is a super heavily peated single malt from Bruichladdich Distillery on Islay, and the control bottling of the 15th Octomore series. It is distilled from 100% Scottish Mainland Concerto barley and aged for five years in first-fill bourbon barrels and re-charred ex-bourbon casks, with no European oak involved. It is bottled at 59.1% in a 70cl bottle, with a phenol content of 108.2 PPM. The colour is bright gold. The nose has caramel, citrus zest, earthy peat smoke, aniseed, vanilla custard, mango and banana. The palate brings sweet dry malt, apricot jam and toffee, and the finish is long and maritime, with charred oak, vanilla and sea spray.
