Bruichladdich – Old Skool 10 Year Old 25th Anniversary Limited Release (70cl, 50%)

Bruichladdich Old Skool is a 10 year old unpeated Islay single malt, released in a limited edition to mark 25 years of Bruichladdich's modern revival. It is bottled at 50% in a 70cl bottle, and its label draws on the distillery's retro designs of the 1980s. The barley was all Islay-grown, harvested on 14 island farms. Maturation was mostly in first-fill bourbon casks (95%), with a small share in first-fill Sauternes wine casks (5%). The nose brings apricot, nectarine and red plum, with vanilla custard, barley sugar, orange blossom and a hint of sea breeze. The palate is viscous, with stewed pear, apple, coconut, clove, ginger and toasted almond. The finish carries apricot jam, toasted coconut, grapefruit, lemon zest and toasted oak.
