Bruichladdich – Organic Barley 2011 (70cl)

This is an 11 year old Islay single malt from Bruichladdich, made from organically grown Scottish barley. It belongs to the Barley Provenance Series, and the 2011 vintage uses grain from Mid Coul Farm, an organic estate in the Highlands. The spirit was distilled in tall stills. The nose brings creme brulee, melon, lemon zest and stone fruits, with honeysuckle, rose and geranium alongside. On the palate there is barley sugar and honeyed citrus in a creamy, viscous texture, with toasted oak, ripe pear and vanilla fudge. The finish carries golden syrup, wood spice, tropical fruit and a gentle coastal salinity.
