Port Charlotte 10 Year Old Third Edition is a heavily peated single malt from Bruichladdich, in a 70cl bottle at 50% ABV. Port Charlotte is a tribute to the men who worked at the Lochindaal distillery, which made whisky from 1829 to 1929. It is distilled at Bruichladdich, and matured in old stone warehouses in Port Charlotte.
It is made from Scottish barley and local spring water, with a peat level of 40 ppm. It was matured in ex-bourbon and ex-French wine casks.
The nose is smoky at first, with citrus fruit, heather and wild herbs, then a touch of sea air. The palate is soft and round, with sweet notes, vanilla, peat smoke, coconut and smoked oysters. The finish is long, with smoky spices and sweet fruit.
