Bruichladdich – Port Charlotte Islay Barley 2014 (70cl)

This is a peated Islay single malt from Bruichladdich's Port Charlotte range, in a 70cl bottle. It is made from barley grown only on Islay by eight local farming partners, and has been maturing since 2014. The nose is smouldering peat with malty biscuits, creme brulee and vanilla, along with ripe melon, lemon zest, red apple, peach, honey and toffee. On the palate are citrus zest, apricot, charred heather, toasted oak, coconut and a light maritime minerality, with marzipan and smoky embers. The finish is long and balanced, with toasted oak sweetness, soft dry spice and lingering barbecue smoke.
