Crown Royal is a blended Canadian whisky, here in a 1 litre bottle at 40% vol. It was first created in 1939 to mark the visit of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth to Canada.
It can be drunk neat or over ice, and also works in classic cocktails such as the Whisky Sour or Old Fashioned.
The nose is light, with vanilla, caramel, lemon zest and a hint of pound cake. The palate is medium-bodied and gently sweet, with vanilla, caramel, brown sugar, oak and a touch of spice. The finish is surprisingly long, with spice, chocolate and toasted oak.
