Crown Royal Extra Rare 32 Year Old is a blended Canadian whisky, bottled at 46% in a 75cl bottle. It draws on whisky made at the LaSalle distillery on the island of Montreal, which closed in 1993, and includes some of the last batches produced there.
The whiskies were distilled in Coffey stills and aged in used barrels for no fewer than three decades.
The nose brings dried fig, toasted oak, toffee, vanilla and baking spices. The palate is silky, with caramel, honeyed grain, roasted nuts, raisins and polished oak, then cinnamon and clove. The finish is very long, with dried fruit, warm spice and toasted oak.
