Dalmore 21 Year Old is a Highland single malt released annually in limited numbers, this one the 2023 release. It is bottled at 43.8%.
The whisky is matured first in American white oak ex-bourbon casks, then finished in 30-year-old Matusalem Oloroso sherry casks from the Gonzalez Byass bodega in Spain.
The nose brings candied orange peel, cocoa, soft vanilla, fig and toasted almonds. The palate has dark chocolate, stewed berries and spiced citrus zest, with Black Forest gateau, clove and dried cherry beneath. The finish is long, with marzipan, nutmeg and sherried oak.
