Glen Scotia – Icons of Campbeltown Release 1 The Mermaid 12 Year Old (54.1%)

This is the first release in Glen Scotia's Icons of Campbeltown series, a limited edition of five cask-strength single malts with one bottling due each year. The series celebrates the Campbeltown Market Cross, and this 12 year old, at 54.1% ABV, is named The Mermaid after the figure at the top of the cross. Glen Scotia worked with the artist Joel Holtzman on the series. The nose is elegant, sweet and nutty, with a maritime saltiness. The palate is full and rich, very sweet, with dark fruit purée, oak spice and a subtle saltiness. The finish is long, spicy and creamy, with fruit and oak fading slowly.
