This is a single cask GlenDronach, distilled in 1993 and matured for 28 years in one Oloroso sherry puncheon, cask 4193. The distillery was founded in 1826 near Forgue in Aberdeenshire, and the cask was selected by Master Blender Rachel Barrie for its cask bottling releases.
It is bottled at a natural cask strength of 51%, without chill-filtration or added colouring.
The nose is dark and rich, with stewed damson plums, dark fruitcake, espresso, pipe tobacco, toasted walnuts and polished oak. The palate brings dark chocolate truffles, marzipan, black cherry preserve and treacle, with oak spice, clove and a touch of leather. The finish is long and warm, with dried fruit, cocoa and sweet sherry.
