Glenfiddich 15 Year Old Solera is a Speyside single malt from the Dufftown distillery, matured for at least 15 years and bottled at 40% (80 proof).
The spirit is aged separately in three types of oak: European oak ex-sherry casks, American oak ex-bourbon casks and new American oak barrels. It is then married in a 35,000-litre Oregon pine Solera vat, which has stayed at least half full since 1998, and rested in Portuguese oak Solera tun barrels before bottling.
The nose offers honey, vanilla fudge, raisins, figs, dates, marzipan and cinnamon. The palate is silky, with sherry-soaked raisins, dark plum, candied orange peel and baking spices. The finish is long and warm, with sweet sherry, dark fruit cake and dry oak.
