Glenfiddich – 40 Year Old (75cl)

Glenfiddich 40 Year Old is a Speyside single malt from Dufftown, made from sherry and bourbon casks and sold in a 75cl bottle. It comes in a hand-stitched calf-leather case with embossed print work and a lock and key. It is made by remnant vatting. The Malt Master selects individual casks of at least 40 years and marries them with whisky held back from the previous 40 Year vatting, so each batch carries spirit from earlier releases. The oldest component in any batch is therefore older than 40 years. The notes describe dried fruit, Christmas cake, dates and raisins on the nose, with stewed apple, dark berry and spiced oak on the palate, and a long finish of spiced fruit and dark oak.
