Glenfiddich Gran Reserva 21 Year Old is a Speyside single malt from the Dufftown distillery, part of its Grand Series. It is bottled at 40% ABV (80 proof).
The whisky spent 21 years in American ex-bourbon oak and European ex-sherry casks. Master Malt Blender Brian Kinsman then moved it into casks that had held Caribbean rum for a second maturation of about four months. The colour is a rich dark gold.
The nose is sweet, with vanilla, toffee, banana, mango and fig, plus lime zest and toasted oak. On the palate, toffee and baked orchard fruit give way to candied orange peel, ginger and cinnamon. The finish is long and warming, with dry wood spice and toasted coconut.
