Glenfiddich Grand Cru is a 23 year old Speyside single malt finished in French Cuvée casks, which previously held the first fermentation of wine destined to become Champagne. It was matured in American oak ex-bourbon and European oak ex-sherry casks, then finished for four to six months in first fill and second fill Cuvée casks.
Afterwards the whisky was married for at least three months in wooden vats. Master Blender Brian Kinsman chose the casks. It is bottled at 40% in a 750ml black and gold decanter.
The nose offers apple blossom, freshly baked bread and candied lemon, with pears in syrup and nut-covered toffee. The palate is silky, with vanilla oak, brioche, sandalwood, pear sorbet and white grape.
