Glenfiddich The Original is a recreation of the 1963 Glenfiddich Straight Malt, the first single malt the distillery marketed internationally. Master Blender Brian Kinsman worked from the family's ledgers and archives, and from a preserved sample of the 1963 whisky.
It matures mainly in American oak bourbon casks with limited sherry influence. Released in November 2014 at 40% abv, it was limited to 24,000 bottles and comes in a triangular bottle with a black tin embossed with gold.
The nose is fruity and floral, with the Glenfiddich pear, fresh apple, vanilla, subtle oak and a soft biscuity note.
