Glengoyne 21 Year Old is a Highland single malt from the distillery at Dumgoyne, near Loch Lomond. Its stills stand in the Highlands, while its warehouses sit across the road in the Lowlands. The malted barley is dried with warm air rather than peat smoke, and the whisky is bottled at 43%.
It spent 21 years almost entirely in European oak ex-sherry casks, mainly first-fill Oloroso.
The nose is rich and fruity, with red apples, sherry-soaked raisins, sultanas, figs, hazelnut, clove and cinnamon. The palate is full and velvety, with dark ripe fruit, candied orange peel, Christmas cake, dark chocolate and stewed plums. The finish is very long, warm and dry, with sherry oak and dark cocoa.
