Glenlivet 14 Year Cognac Cask Selection is a Speyside single malt Scotch whisky, aged fourteen years and bottled at 40% in a 750ml bottle. It was first released in 2018 under the name Captain's Reserve.
Maturation begins in ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks, followed by a finish of at least six months in Limousin oak casks from the Cognac region of France.
The nose is rich and nutty, with brandy, green apple, malt and light caramel. The palate brings poached pear, mandarin, toffee, vanilla, milk chocolate and sultanas. The finish is long and dry, with toffee and a soft, brandy-like warmth.
