Glenmorangie 16 Year Old The Nectar is a Highland single malt that replaces the former Nectar d'Or, with four more years of maturation. It spends 14 years in ex-bourbon American white oak, then two years finishing in sweet wine barrels: Sauternes, Monbazillac, Moscatel and Tokaji. The finish is meant to evoke the aromas of a French patisserie. It is bottled at 46%.
The nose is heady, with baking brioche, vanilla pudding, baked apricot, toasted almond, chestnut and hints of chocolate truffle. The palate is unctuous and syrupy with a lemon zest lift, bringing honeycomb, vanilla crème anglaise, orange scone and warm raisin bread. The finish is long, warming and sweet, with ginger, buttercream icing and honeycomb.
