Glenmorangie A Tale of Spices is a limited-edition Highland single malt from Tain, released in late 2025 as the sixth in the distillery's annual 'A Tale of...' series. Dr Bill Lumsden and Gillian Macdonald created it to capture the experience of global spice markets. It is bottled at 46%.
After maturing in ex-bourbon barrels, the whisky was finished in four types of cask: Moroccan red wine casks of French oak, new charred oak, shaved and toasted ex-red wine casks, and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. The combination had not been used at the distillery before.
The nose is perfumed and sweet, with rose, jasmine, lilac, cumin, saffron, nutmeg and ginger. The palate is viscous and waxy, with black pepper and mustard seed against demerara sugar, mint toffee and orange marmalade. The finish is long and drying, with peppery warmth and oak tannins.
