A Midwinter Night's Dram is High West's annual port finished rye, first released in 2013. This is Act 7, the 2019 release, from the Scene 3 bottling run. It is bottled at 49.3% (98.6 proof) and is non-chill filtered.
The base is Rendezvous Rye, a blend of straight ryes from a 95 percent rye MGP recipe and High West's own 80 percent rye, 20 percent malted rye distillate. It is aged for around six years, then finished in French oak barrels that previously held Port.
The nose has port fruit, sharp cinnamon, mint, honey and dried herbs. The palate brings rye spice, dry oak, peppermint, citrus zest and jammy dark fruit, and the finish carries mulling spice and dried fruit.
