High West Campfire is a blend of straight rye whiskey, straight bourbon whiskey and lightly peated blended malt Scotch whisky, made by High West in Park City, Utah. This bottle is batch 19J10, in a 750ml bottle at 46% ABV (92 proof).
The idea came from High West founders David and Jane Perkins, who were served honeydew melon with a peated whiskey syrup while staying at a Scotland distillery's bed and breakfast. The bourbon and rye bring sweet and spicy character, and the Scotch adds soft smoke.
The nose is butterscotch, shortbread, sandalwood, leather and pine resin over campfire smoke. The palate has vanilla, salted caramel, brioche, red berries and chai spices, and the finish brings toffee, dark chocolate and a trace of peat.
