High West Yippee Ki-Yay is a batch numbered blend of straight rye whiskeys from High West Distillery in Park City, Utah, bottled at 46% and non-chill filtered. The ryes range from two to sixteen years old, and this bottle is Batch 18C28. After ageing in new charred oak, the whiskey is finished in two kinds of barrel: ex-vermouth barrels from Vya in Madera, California, and ex-Syrah wine barrels from Qupe in Santa Maria, California. The Syrah gives it a ruby tinged rose gold colour. The nose is floral and wine forward, with cinnamon, blackberries, cassis, stone fruit, sage and thyme. The palate is sweet and fruity, with vanilla, caramel, dark berries and a botanical vermouth character. The finish is clean, with orange peel, mint and honey.
