This is a 12 year old single malt from Highland Park in Kirkwall, on Orkney, bottled at 40% ABV in a 750ml bottle.
The distillery still malts part of its own barley on traditional floor maltings, using peat cut from Hobbister Moor. The whisky is lightly peated, with the smoke a gentle, aromatic background note. It is matured in sherry-seasoned European and American oak casks.
On the nose there is heather honey, dried citrus peel and Seville orange marmalade, with a hint of vanilla and Orkney peat smoke. The palate is rich and rounded, with honey, dried fruit, warm winter spice and a soft coastal peat note. The finish is medium-long, warming and slightly smoky.
