Viking Heart is a 15 year old single malt from Highland Park, bottled at 44% ABV. It was matured for at least 15 years in European oak casks, first-fill sherry casks of American oak and a small share of refill casks, which support the heather peat character. The European oak brings warm, spicy, dry notes, while the American oak adds vanilla and crème brûlée.
The nose is gentle, mild smoke with toasted cinnamon bark and heather, mixed with vanilla, shortbread and dark chocolate. The palate is soft yet powerful, with vanilla, caramel, heather honey and lemon peel, then fine peat smoke, with dried fruit and pineapple coming in. The finish combines oak, cocoa, vanilla, caramel and honey over lasting peat smoke.
