This is a 21 year old single malt from Highland Park on Orkney, released in 2020 in a 70cl bottle at 46% ABV. It was bottled in 2020 from 55 hand-selected casks, all filled in November 1998.
Three types of cask went into the vatting: first-fill European oak sherry-seasoned hogsheads, ex-bourbon casks and refill casks.
The nose opens with fresh ginger and oranges from the sherry-seasoned hogsheads. The palate adds creamy vanilla and a little honey from the ex-bourbon casks. The finish brings toasted oak from the refill casks, with subtle smoky spice and lasting warmth.
