Highland Park – 30 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky 2019 (70cl, 45.7%)

This is a 30 year old single malt Scotch whisky from Highland Park, bottled at 45.7% in a 70cl bottle. It was matured on Orkney. The whisky is made from fewer than twenty casks filled in 1989 and earlier years, in three cask types chosen by Master Whisky Maker Gordon Motion. Ex-bourbon casks add vanilla, honey and sharp citrus, first-fill sherry-seasoned casks add stewed fruit and warm spice, and a small number of refill casks round out the blend. The nose has coconut, bacon fat, dark toffee, apple crisp, dates and oak. The palate is rich and fresh, with dark honey and fudge. Spice, dark chocolate orange and floral peat appear too.
