Kaiyo Mizunara Cask Strength (70cl, 53%)

Kaiyo Mizunara Cask Strength is a Japanese whisky bottled at 53% in a 700ml bottle. Kaiyo is a negociant bottler: the spirit was bought as new make from an unnamed Japanese supplier and then matured in Japanese mizunara oak barrels from Ariake. It is described as fruity, zesty and softly smoky. The nose brings orange peel, jasmine, soft cedar and coastal air. On the palate come earthy coffee, green apples, black tea and fresh herbs, and the finish carries hints of cinnamon pastries and mango.
