Kaiyo The Kuri Chestnut Wood Japanese Whisky (75cl, 46%)

Kaiyo The Kuri is a Japanese whisky finished in Kuri chestnut wood casks, bottled at 46% in a 750ml bottle. It is non-chill-filtered. Kaiyo is known for maturing whisky partly at sea, and this edition adds the influence of Japanese chestnut wood, which brings deeper spice, nutty warmth and a subtle sweetness compared with traditional oak. The nose offers roasted chestnut, honey, vanilla and soft baking spice. On the palate come toasted nuts, caramel, dark fruit, oak spice and hints of cocoa, followed by a long, warming finish of spice, nuttiness and gentle sweetness.
