Laphroaig – Elements 2.0 (59.6%)

Laphroaig Elements 2.0 is a limited edition Islay single malt, bottled at cask strength, 59.6%, and non-chill filtered. It belongs to the Elements series, which looks at how changes in production shape flavour. The spirit was distilled during a frosty January and fermented for up to 115 hours, where 55 hours is standard. The longer fermentation brings a secondary fermentation and extra tropical, fruity notes alongside the peat. The nose is fruity and lightly coastal, with stewed apple, vanilla custard and orange peel. The palate is sweet and salty, with green apple, runny honey and cream soda, and the finish is long and sweet with warming smoke.
