Laphroaig Elements 3.0 is a limited edition Islay single malt, the third release in the Elements series. It is bottled at cask strength, 54.3%, and non-chill filtered.
This edition looks at the effect of a short fermentation, just 55 hours. The spirit was matured in a combination of refill quarter casks and first-fill bourbon barrels.
The nose is smoky, with soot, coal dust, sweet lemon oil and new leather, plus a hint of sea spray. The palate is sweet and mouth-coating, with medicinal smoke, lemon zest and sea salt. The finish is long and dry, with lingering peat smoke.
