Laphroaig – Select (40%)

Laphroaig Select is an Islay single malt at 40% ABV, from the distillery founded in 1815 by the brothers Donald and Alexander Johnston. The final recipe was chosen by the Friends of Laphroaig community from several candidate blends. It combines whiskies matured in five cask types: Oloroso sherry butts, Pedro Ximénez hogsheads, first-fill bourbon barrels, quarter casks and new American oak. The nose has medicinal peat smoke, ripe red fruit and a hint of citrus. The palate starts sweet and full-bodied, then turns dry, ashy and smoky, with seaweed and soft vanilla. The long finish brings floral notes, marzipan and lime.
