Loch Lomond – 12 Year Old (46%)

This is a 12 year old single malt from Loch Lomond, a distillery in the town of Alexandria, at the southern end of the loch of the same name. It is bottled at 46% ABV and is not chill-filtered. The whisky is matured in three different types of cask, which shape its flavour. The nose is fresh and fruity, with summer fruits such as peach and pear, a light touch of citrus and a little grain at the back. On the palate it is fruity and sweet, with lemon sponge and a hint of vanilla. The finish turns steadily drier, with more wood and a wisp of peat smoke.
