This is a 46 year old single malt from Loch Lomond, the second release in the Remarkable Stills series, bottled at 45.3% in a 70cl bottle. The series takes its inspiration from the straight-necked pot stills installed at the distillery in 1965.
The whisky was distilled in 1974 from unpeated spirit and began in first-fill and refill American oak. After four years it moved into second-fill Oloroso and Pedro Ximenez sherry casks. 200 bottles were filled, each presented in a handcrafted oak case.
Toffee and caramelised sugar lead on the nose, with ripe pear, orange peel and brown sugar on the palate. The finish is long, with green fruit, toffee and warming spice.
