This is a 36 year old Macallan, distilled in 1988 and matured in a first-fill Oloroso sherry hogshead. It is the second bottling from Grand Drams, and one of 131 bottles drawn from that single cask, in a 70cl decanter.
The whisky spent more than three decades in cask and was bottled at 36 years, the point at which those responsible felt it was at its best. It was bottled without added colour, and the engraved decanter is designed to show off its natural sherry-rich hue.
It is described as a rich, sherried whisky.
