The third and final release in The Macallan's Concept range, created in collaboration with graphic designer David Carson. Carson designed the pack and label after time spent at the Macallan estate with whisky maker Polly Logan.
The whisky is bottled at 40.8%, chosen for flavour and aroma and because eight is a favourite number of both Logan and Carson. It combines first fill sherry butts, ex-bourbon barrels, and refill and virgin American oak casks. The colour is called California Gold, a nod to Carson's roots.
The nose offers pear, apricot, cinnamon, ginger, vanilla and citrus. Oak spice, apple and a creamy mouthfeel lead the palate, and the medium sweet finish brings pastry.
