Macallan – Rare Cask Black Limited Edition Pewter Flask 1824 Collection (2018) (70cl)

This is Macallan Rare Cask Black, a Speyside single malt from the 1824 Collection, released in 2018 in a pewter flask. It was vatted from fewer than 100 casks and is a peated Macallan, which is a rarity for the distillery. It pairs peat smoke with Macallan's characteristic sherried power, and it is non-chill-filtered. The nose brings peat smoke, dried fruits, nutmeg, ginger, polished oak, dates, figs and raisins. The palate is dry and smoky, giving way to softer oak. The finish is long and fruity, with elegant wood smoke.
