Mars Komagatake Yakushima Aging 2021 (70cl, 56%)

This is a Japanese single malt from Mars Komagatake, the fourth bottling in the Yakushima Aging series. It is bottled at 56% vol. in a 70cl bottle. The whisky travels from the Shinshu distillery to the island of Yakushima to mature. The island is surrounded by forest, sea and rivers, and its warm, rainy climate is credited with adding particular flavour components. The nose brings brown sugar, smoke, banana and sweet honey. On the palate come sea salt, juicy orange and sweet milk chocolate, with an intense character. The finish is peaty and long.
